Ok is it just me or is the weather this spring been absolutely crazy? From snow one day to tornadoes the next it’s hard to figure out what season we are in. Same goes for your heating and air system. Monday it might be a “windows open” kind of day, Wednesday you had to kick back on your furnace and by Friday the air conditioner is running full blast.
This time of year can be unpredictable but don’t let the cold days stop you from getting your air conditioner serviced. We all know that summer heat is coming and I want to make sure your system will keep you comfortable.
We don’t think too much about our air conditioner until we need it and keep in mind that your condenser sits outside in the elements for months without use. During that time your unit collects dirt and debris, so routine maintenance is important. Think of it like an oil change for your car. You need it serviced every so often for peak running performance. Same goes for your air conditioner.
There are some steps you can take to help ensure your unit is ready. This doesn’t mean don’t have your system serviced, but it can start the process to make sure your air conditioner is ready when you turn it on.
- Replace your filter. Yep….that’s it. I always do the two times a year trick…when you change your clocks for Daylight Savings, change your air filter.
- Give it a bath. Since your air conditioner sits outside it is going to be dirty. Get out your hose and spray off the outside to remove any debris that could cause running complications.
Give us a call at 785-263-2661 to schedule an appointment to get your air conditioner serviced. Oh and I almost forgot, regular maintenance on your system can help with energy savings too.
Until next time….
Blessings to you and yours,
Bill, owner Denny’s Plumbing & Heating
